The Business details for the Camping & Motocamp project
This area of Romania is mostly visited by nature lovers and adventurers. Mountain tracking by foot, ATV, 4×4, or motorcycle. We want to offer these visitors a nice place to retreat in the evening or resting days.
The camping type of holiday, by tent or caravan, has been taken off enormously since 2020 and here for the moment to start camping in this area is promising. We want to offer spacious spots for caravans and tents and a dedicated area for a Motocamp (tents).
Space for a kid’s playground, swimming pool, lots of green and shadow, terras with small shop & bar, a place where motorcycles and bicycles can be maintained and repaired. Additional service as bike, motor, ATV rental, and on-/off road training & tours are to be given.
The Market
The whole camping with tent or caravan is coming up since 2015-2017 and since 2020 is increasing enormously each year. However, the conditions of the few available campings are not all that well, not proper sanitary, not big enough spots, or too busy overall which is negatively affecting the camping (freedom) experience.
In the prospected area, options on land & building in Idicel-Padure are no direct registered or known competitors, closet by is about 90-100 km to the west and east. Target customers are couples, families, and groups looking for a retreat in nature, and quietness, and can socialize when wanted. A place where one can be stayed for weeks with the kids and make day trips to touristic attractions or activities in nature.
Off-road (or on-road) lots of possibilities are available attracting the individual or group persons who enjoy the area with 4×4, ATV, bike or motor knowing there is a clean sanitary facility and some cold drinks and food for them waiting at the end of the day. This is a great investment opportunity.
Progress/Proof of the Camping & Motocamp project
This camping is a green field build-up. I’m Dutch and living already since 2005 in Romania. Have been occupied with setting up branches for West European companies, getting them started, and organizing and moving on to the next one.
My biggest passion is adventure motorcycles as well on- and off-road. The combined market of camping facility, with all it can offer (shop/bar) and giving training and tours to the motorcycle (and 4×4). The whole idea and financial calculations are made that with small and mid-sized camping, we are talking about +/- 40 spots for caravans and +/- 40 spots for tents (small and mid-sized) the running cost and investment will be covered.
The other services, shop/bar, tours, training, pool access noncamping visitors, and service for vehicles, are all additional. If the investment amount will be obtained an additional 60.000 euros in European funding will be obtained for specific projects like solar panels power supply, lights, and building upgrades. Objectives/Future
My objective is to get this location good and profitable running within 3 years, first-year start-up, the second and third year – to be running fully. Extending with glamping tents or small cabins. After the 3rd year, look for extension in the form of opening other locations with the same concept in Romania. In long term, there might be looked at expansion to neighboring countries. Concept of small and mid-sized camping facility where there is space to breathe.
The Deal details for the Camping & Motocamp project
- The target for the Camping & Motocamp project is € 350 000 With a € 1 000 minimum per Investor.

We are open to any proposal which is good for both sides. The total amount of investment will be around 350.000 Euro, of which 60.000 Euro by EU funds and 40.000 Euro by own means. Next to the time and resources put in by myself as the initiator of this project (I will work full time on this project).
As for cost; the Potential location is 85.000 Euro, and the cost for renovating, adding sanitary, fencing, utilities, and preparing the camping spots is 66.500 Euro (backed by offers received). Machinery and start-up products (shop&bar) estimate 20.000 euros. Set up cost and first-year running cost (employees, utilities) at 46.200 Euro. Service tools & parts set up 21.250 Euro. Rent fleet, bicycles, motors, ATV, 40.000 Euro. A 10% margin on the cost of 27.895 Euro on materials and unpredicted events.
There is a 40.000 Euro budget in use of the EU fond of 60.000 Euro which is for the solar power project, additional type of building materials, among solar led street lights, to create a more durable facility.
